Volunteer Opportunities
The Jesus Center is always looking for individuals, families and groups to come and volunteer. You are welcome to sign up for a weekly or monthly opportunity or take part in an event or one-time scheduled activity. We are grateful for our partnership with hundreds of individuals, businesses, schools and churches throughout the area. Our hope is to find a way for you to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
Opportunities for individuals include:
Food Service: A team of 4-5 volunteers serve prepared meals to our clients. Meal times are Monday through Saturday Breakfast from 7:30am-8:30am and Monday through Friday Dinner from 3:30pm-4:30pm; Saturday Dinner is from 2:30-3:30pm.
Neighborhood Ambassadors: Pairs walk the neighborhood during meal times, patrolling and acting as ‘good-will ambassadors’ to the immediate community that surrounds the Jesus Center. Shifts are Monday through Friday 7:30am – 8:30am and 3:30pm-4:30pm, and Saturday 7:30 - 8:30am and 2:30 - 3:30pm.
Office Team: Duties include answering phones, data entry, greeting visitors.
Sabbath House: Support our staff in the shelter for women and children.
1-1-1: Mentor a client in partnership with a group of people for one year.
In-A-Pinch: An on-call position to help with special events, run errands, fill in for regular volunteers.
Special Skills: Bring us a skill and we’ll put it to use - Haircuts, Chiropractic, Dentistry, Carpentry, etc.
Resource & Referral Center: Help clients with GED, ESL, literacy, housing & job applications, job training, interview skills, computer skills, money management, etc. Includes staffing the center, one-on-one work and group classes.
Free Store: Volunteers help in our free clothing store on the sales floor, greeting clients and sorting clothing.
Event Coordinators: Take the lead on our Holiday Meals, Food Drives, Blessing Bags, Knitting Project, etc.
Special Events: Help us staff our events. Tasks include set-up, clean-up, hospitality, etc.
Holiday Meals: Help create a memorable holiday experience by serving a special meal.

If your family, business, or any small group want to get together to help, we can set up the following:
Work Days: We create a task list, you supply the man power. Tasks include cleaning, painting, working in the warehouse, yard work and other various tasks.
